I remember Giroud besting him to the ball in last minute, to score an equaliser for us at Southampton.

Might have been his last goal for us too, pure domination of Van Delegate did Ollie have!

Bournemouth Away. 3-3.

All he had to do after this goal was grab the ball, and run back to the touchline. He shouldn't have celebrated a draw to bournemouth when we were contesting with ****ing Leicester for the title. Weak, weak, weak.

The problem with him was he was not prolific enough. If he were 20+ goals a season striker there will have been no discussions about this.
His overall game was fantastic. Similar to what we have now with Jesus, They are not goalscorers but when they are not there you sorely miss them.

A poor version of Benzema. absolute quality on his foot, elite control, and touch, physical and intelligent player. Slow, yes, but quick with his brain. Integral in how well our wingers and midfielders played during that Leicester season.

Problem is in that time and place we needed a guy to score more goals and he couldn’t do it and it cost us a title, but it’s obviously absurd to say he’s a bad player cos of that, cos he’s also an undeniably incredible player.

When you have Nketiah here now earning 100k a week when that’s about what Giroud earned when he was here, it’s pretty ridiculous, considering Nketiah hasn’t and won’t achieve half the things Giroud has.

You basically couldn’t ask for a better top level BMUT, which is something we’re crying out for rn.

That’s not really a fair statement though. Inflation and the PL becoming a global big name means revenue has significantly increased across the board, which in turn means wages has increased too. I mean how much was Henry getting paid compared to what Jesus is getting paid now, despite the difference in quality.

And the ironic thing is, Eddie at 23 is already playing at much higher level Giroud did at 23. So similarly to Giroud we should wait before making blanket statements on a player’s career.

League is very weak
3, 2, 8, 4, 11, 5 atm.

His league goals each season after leaving here. 28 league goals in 5 seasons, not including this.

Think we’re overrating him now a little tbh. The only Wenger starting striker to not be 1 in 2 or close to it.

1) Giroud was incredibly frustrating for us and we needed someone better to win the league.
2) Giroud has improved since leaving Arsenal and has gone on to win prestigious trophies.

Both statements are true. Good for him for showing everyone how good he is, but no, we were not harsh on him. He went 16 games without a goal in a the closest run we had to a league title. He had several big misses that cost us games. He couldn’t hold the ball up at times. He was slow and cumbersome. These all true and warranted the criticism he faced. There is no point comparing Giroud back in 2013 to what we are seeing now in 2022. Move on.

The Arsenal fan base were calling on Walcott to start at CF when Giroud was here, that’s how desperate and frustrating things got. Walcott at CF, now sounds diabolical.

He does the odd good thing now, and we’re supposed to look back and ask if we were harsh on him, I don’t think so.

Wenger even tried out Yaya Sanogo against Bayern Munich in a CL game because Giroud’s form was that bad. People have short short memories.

I think those who want to celebrate Giroud should be left to it tbh.

That Eddie on 100k thing is dumb though, because he was never a 100k player. Neither was Kolasinac. Kinda what happens when you don’t have a transfer fee.

That scorpion kick celebration was the worst thing I’ve ever seen.

Arsenal Quotes

Football is a bit like elections. Before it's unpredictable. After it's unexplainable... But there's an opportunity for us to make it unforgettable.
