Dont worry, I think we can all sleep safely knowing we will end up with someone top drawer, even if Khedira isnt your cup of tea he is in that bracket of top quality and so are all the alternatives.

We are in the driving seat.

Not sure why people don't rate Khedira, he's an awesome all-rounder and a proven winner.

Consider we're in a World cup year as well, players might not even have the opportunity to train properly with the team depending on how tough their world-cup/ season was.

The whole doing business early thing has one benefit as far as I can see and that's getting your target before other clubs. Realistically it takes months for guys to gel with their teammates, it takes ages for them to get settled too. People aren't realistic when it comes to transfers, Borini had moved home 5 times in 3 years before he joined Liverpool and fans we're annoyed about his performances for the club!

Psychologically it's of great benefit to get a preseason in with new teammates though. You don't end up arriving at a team that is already in gear and the competitive edge isn't discomforting. Nonetheless, it won't bother me if we have one big signing arrive when the season starts, it's more important that value for money is gotten rather than spunking an extra 10m on a guy to get him quickly when he could be a flop even if he's Andres Iniesta.

I have never seen him play live(missed his world cup games too). The guy looks an absolute beast in YouTube though. Seems to have everything.
YouTube is not the best way to judge a player for sure but he looks really interesting to me.

judging from those clips he looks like a player who resembles Vieira the most ...

He's a monster physically. It's scary stuff.

Whether he's the best player for us or not, he is a significant upgrade/improvement on FlamTeta and would help us immensely. If he's our fall-back option we're sitting pretty.

Tony Leen hinting that we're signing a midfielder, a big one but wonders whether they're coming from Italy or Portugal..

Hotting up.

@tonyleen: Yes. Question is from Italy or Portugal??

In response to somebody saying we'll make one more big signing, Carvalho is clearly the one from Portugal, Italy could be Vidal ... Balotelli

He says he's heard nothing about Pogba, so it isn't him.

For someone so physical, he's surprisingly adept technically. From watching this, you can see he doesn't just sit, he presses high up the field aswell which I find intriguing, although it is clear he's a more defensive player.

Definitely an exciting option for us to consider. I hope we can sign a player like him, his skillset would be great for our midfield.

Vidal or Carvalho isn't a bad problem to have.

Vidal would be seriously sexy while Carvalho must be so highly regarded for a reason. Completely different players, but you can understand the potential upside getting either. Vidal would be a clear signal of intent and a massive coup and getting two world class Chileans in one window would be oh la la :eek:ops: .

I just cant see us getting Vidal so I'm expecting Carvalho, he would be a massive upgrade on what we have anyway.

This video is crazy. At first he looks like a CB who is good enough at passing to be played in the MF. Then he looks like a creative player who is also good a defending. He is definitely a physical player who also has good vision and ball skill. He play reminds me of what Song did on his good days, but to another level (obviously not against the same level of players, though). At 6'2" he would also add more height to the side, which is good.

Very exciting prospect, he looks very polished for a 22 year old.

Pogba or Vidal would be over £40m, I would love it but cant see it happening. Carvalho would be great, so to Khedira if his wages are £100m pw max

Because Wenger would never spend £40m on a player?

Arsenal Quotes

When I am asked why I stayed at Arsenal so long.. my answer is simple; I never wanted to be anywhere else. I could have earned a lot more elsewhere, but that wouldn't compensate for all the good years at Highbury.
