I think all the position specialists are in trouble tbh I don’t really think it’s the inverted thing. Tomi plays there and he’s no midfielder.

You’re much better off being a White in this squad than say Saliba/Gabriel going forward.
Honestly Tomi being preferred over Tierney at LB while not seemingly being any better at inverting (imo) is one of the weirdest parts of all of this to me. Tomi is solid enough at RB/CB but I struggle to see anything he does better on the left than Tierney.

But I think you have a good point there. Arteta seems to prefer players who can do a bit of everything. Even if they aren't great at some of it. I guess I see why, as it allows you to plug players in where needed, but you lose out on some talent that way.

Yeah Havertz confirmed it for me. A million players he could have signed all over the world it was the one where there’s a debate about his best position.

I don’t get the Tomi thing myself, but I’m not a tactics aficionado. Timber had never played there either according to some of the Ajax fans on here.

He was never a player you could count on. He is injury-prone as hell ffs.

That's part of the reason to get rid. Tomiyasu is injury-prone enough.

We have a lot of players who are injury prone look at Zinchenko at Jesus who are vital for us.

Jesus is not injury prone yet. One injury and a procedure to clean up some scar tissue on that injury isn't injury prone. If he picks up any more significant muscular or ligament injuries then ok but it's too early to characterize him as injury prone when he was relatively fit at City.

Surely there's room to interpret that a lot of these players just say things sometimes because they want an easy life?

Tierney about to be thrown out on his ass to learn español and if you asked him today he'd still say Arteta is a genius and the best manager he's ever had past, present and future like Saka recently did.

The squad is full of kids and boot lickers who have seen bigger players than them crushed and bodied by Arteta. It's kind of disingenuous to claim everything they say as gospel.
I take your point, but it's not like players are making those comments under duress. They say things voluntarily of their own free will..

Of course he will have his favourites & those who are 'not quite his tempo' & those are the guys who end up as forgotten men.

This is an area he hasn't seemed to learnt from too well from mistakes like the handling of Douzi. It's just his way. Fergie was the same, in getting rid of banishing players, but of course he had the trophies to back it up.

Tierney is a victim of Tetas rigid system.
He's a victim of only being able to do one thing on the ball. Remember the days where our attack was just him putting his head down and whipping a cross to nobody on the wing? Dark times. He struggles to do much beyond that and because he's not played much this last season, everyone else forgets that his injury record as a nailed on starter makes Zinchenko look like Inaki Williams.

Dear Lord here we go again. Loan ****ing FC.

Cucurella went for 80m, Mendy for almost 60, Chilwell for 50, Shaw some time ago for over 35m and even Digne cost ****ing 30m.

Now I know the situation with Tierney is different but how the **** do we manage to only secure a loan deal to Spain for him? Abysmal.

Good old fashioned full back, sometimes you need something different. Anyway a dry loan is crap!

Have you not heard how a lot of our players are complimentary of him & his coaching ?

The relationship between manager, coaches & players looks really tight from what will are able to discern from games & media etc.
I am not sure about about that, mate.
Word on the street is that Arteta is a proper bеllend

I agree that the loan is crap and we could probably find some use for him but we have outgrown what he is as a club.

I am surprised no PL team wants him. Well I'm sure they do but they felt the financial situation wasn't worth it

We’re so bad at tanking a player’s value below what it could be. Alright so Tierney doesn’t fit Arteta’s specific tactical style, but guess what! Lots of managers don’t play that way, they just want a good defender who’ll run up and down and cross the ball, Tierney is great at that! Plus he’s a model professional.

Absolutely baffling how we haven’t managed to sell him to clubs like Newcastle or Villa for 35m. Anyone who disagrees can eff off!
Some might be put off by his injury record, but £35m these days is a drop in the ocean. I would not be surprised if there is some movement before the window closes.

The satisfying thing about history being rewritten by the winners is that the winners will eventually be losers. It is not enough to diss a player but now we have to rewrite history to explain why the player has to be dissed.

IMO most people don't know the difference between an inverted full back and an inverted nipple. But it sounds good when you say it, doesn't it!

Everyone kept saying Arteta has bias towards certain players and treats them harshly like pepe, auba, etc and Tierney was supposed to be on Arteta's good books then.

Now Arteta has proved there's no bias, it's just players suiting his current style of play and he's ready to move on anyone who is not fitting the system.

But still gets blamed ffs 🤦🏽‍♂️
