Jack plays 90 mins for Arsenal, first time in almost 3 years. How much more positivity do you want!

The Terminator

Mark Strong played a character called Tosker in 'Our Friends in the North' - hence my cat and my user name

I didn't know he was an Arsenal fan so that is a lovely bonus

I did wonder.

You don't have to reference every 1/10 posts to porn, my friend.

That was 4R5Emaniac hacking my account.

At least, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Is it just me who finds it a bit odd to come onto a thread about all things positive and find a poster called Deathstroke, The Terminator posting on it?

This is going to sound crazy, but for this season (and only this season), not being in the Champions League could be a positive for the squad.

Clearly, not being in the competition has influenced why Alexis and Ɩzil haven't signed new contracts, and we definitely can't afford to not be in it two seasons in a row.

However, the quality of our squad and the diminished quality of our opposition could work in our favor for the season.

For the first half of the season, our starting 11 will only play once a week, and our backups can handle the League Cup and the Europa League. Hopefully, this will result in us having a stronger team in the second half of the season than we have had in previous seasons.

Usually, by the second half of the season, some of our key players start picking up injuries here and there due to being overplayed. Wenger is always talking about whether X player is in the "red zone" or needs a rest. All of this happens right when the matches really matter and our season falls apart pretty quickly.

This season we have the opportunity to avoid this problem while also making our second string even better.

Holding has had a horrible start to the season, but in previous seasons it would have been even worse. A bad performance in the EPL just means he'll get a match in the League Cup or Europa League. He won't spend most of his season on the bench, and he'll actually play every week.

Same thing applies to Chambers. He's at the stage where he needs to play every week, and in a previous season that would have required that sell or loan him again. But now he can still play about every week and continue his development.

Jack is also getting the minutes he needs to come back, and he wouldn't have had that in previous seasons. Also, players like Nelson, AMN, Willock and Da Silva are getting the chance to develop against quality opposition.

By the second half of the season, the guys in the B squad could be seriously pushing for starting spots. And our starters could be as fit as they have ever been because they've gotten more rest.

Clearly, there is a long way to go until the new year and anything can happen, but the pieces are in place to have a surprisingly good season where we can legitimately compete for more than just the FA Cup.

A character from a TV show weirded out by the appearance of a comic-book villain.

Hmm...

We beat West Brom!!!
I love these posts. These completely entitled fans who think we deserve to and should be beating everyone below the top 6. News flash people, the reason this league is one of the most popular leagues in the world is precisely because 'smaller' teams like West Brom do get results which upset the top teams. Look back on the league over the last ten years and name the season where there hasn't been some kind of huge upset... Happens to EVERY top team EVERY season.

Oi. Isn't this "The All Things Positive Thread" and isn't beating West Brom a positive? In this thread alone I think I am entitled to be happy about our win. It wasn't a perfect victory but in this thread it was. Part of being a football fan is enjoying your team's wins and being excited when things go right for a change.

Nothing about my four word post suggested that I think we should be beating these smaller teams but you know what, we should be. I don't expect anyone to just roll over but there are teams a club with our aspirations should be winning against. I will keep this thread sacred and with the positivity it is supposed to inspire.

We beat West Brom!!!!

and now you're contradicting yourself - but that is not meant as a criticism, as I feel myself this roller-coaster of a club leaves everyone not sure what is legitimate ambition and what is just pie in the sky wishful thinking

Arsenal Quotes

There is no chance of Sol ever leaving for Arsenal. He is a Spurs fan and there is not a hope in hell of him playing in an Arsenal shirt.
