Compared to realistic specialist options like Neves and Tielemens who have done it for club and country, there is a slight risk with Zinny which you trade off for utility.

There’s enough to suggest he’s capable though, that’s not something I’d argue all day about.

Nothing you’ve said screams better than Xhaka aka good enough to start for me.

I am 100% not saying he would be better than Xhaka, that’s not my point, he certainly wouldn’t be better than Tielemans either.

But, if we brought him he could in my opinion play in both positions comfortably against PL opposition and that’s why I like him.

I’m not suggesting he should be a long term CM, but over the course of a season, I’d back him to play 10+ league games at CM at a high level if he needed to, same as LB.

For me I prefer the cover he gives at LB, I was simply highlighting if he needed to sit in at CM to give someone bar Partey a rest and Tierney is fit I think he’d do a steller job and we wouldn’t see a fall off like we do with Lokonga, Elneny etc.

95% on board, was gonna post something similar. Would still keep Xhaka though.

Could provide rotation for the first choice in a double pivot with Elneny, if Partey breaks down again. Would also be able to drop into the left channel to cover for the left wingback, as Xhaka does. A solid signing this, I really hope we get him over the line.

I would add someone like Aouar for that reported price of 13m. However that would probably put Smith-Rowe's midfield shift to bed, so cant see it happening really.

Wishlisty me says... Zinchenko, Tielemans, Auoar to come in. Midfield of Partey, Xhaka, Ødegaard, Zinchenko, Tielemans, Auoar, Elneny. With Smith-Rowe, Lokonga, Patino for the future.

With Partey , Tielemans , Zinchenko , just renewed Mo is enough to play for 2 positions and keep the wage bill in check. Having Xhaka on the bench is not good value for us. I would cash in on Xhaka for a good fee. Get Sambi to the Championship to actually play a full season. Not play a handful of games for lesser PL side.

People are in such a rush to get rid of Xhaka when he’s the exact type of quality depth that teams like City, Liverpool and Chelsea will have.

You know we have to make money sooner rather than later. We haven’t probably sold a player since Willock to Newcastle.

It shouldn't even be Zinchenko or Xhaka ffs. Zinchenko should be our left back. Tierney's had his chances and unfortunately has proven he can't stay fit. Also the way Arteta wants his fullbacks to play suits Zinchenko's style.

He would be a starter though surely?

The squad is so paper thin and pretty bad that its pretty unrealistic to suggest any signing we make wouldnt walk into the starting 11, we have like 2/3 (GK, CB, ? ) positions on lock, the rest should all be up for grabs.

We get Zinchenko in midfield then the other links like Tielemens & Bissouma, that would be a pretty good window in midfield. Those 3 plus Xhaka, Partey & El Neny would be a pretty good 6 experienced players for centre midfield next season.
