Although it's not ideal, if we get his wages covered plus a £2-3m loan fee then it's not the end of the world. We'd still cover his initial fee after a few loans and likely recoup more from sales before his contract ends. This was a pretty low risk punt signing. It's not worked out, but there's still every chance he either improves as a player or turns as profit.

You're being too optimistic. I think he should have two successful seasons; otherwise, his fee will be around 10m at best
