Özil at 10 And Emery Out
Selling a 21 year old that's just broken the record for goals scored in consecutive games for a midfielder, when your own team had the least goals from midfield the previous season, to fund one or possibly two new DMs that don't score is the most Arsenal thing ever lol.
You think Willock would score goals from DM?

Could live with that but only if the left forward is Grealish.

I would also like to see Willock get a chance. Otherwise, what's the point of proving yourself on loan? For fringe players I understand a loan may be useful to up their value for sales, but Willock is close to the first XI.

Only issue is his best position is basically Partey's position in a 4-3-3, so that would cause some recruitment issues unless you get Grealish.

Let's say you get Grealish and Neves (or a different CDM).

We could play this against teams sitting deep (the bottom half of the table):
Grealish - Auba - Pepe/Saka
ESR/Saka - Willock
Partey

Against teams where we are the underdog we could play:
Grealish - Auba - Pepe/Saka
ESR/Saka/Willock - Partey
Neves
This is exactly what I am talking about, seems a lot more flexible to me than buying a more specialist 10.

My thinking behind this is that while I consider Saka brilliant and our brightest spark I'm not convinced he has enough goals in him to be one of the 3 forwards but his balance and dribbling and directness from more central areas could cause absolute havoc.

I already think we have a left forward with goals in his locker in Martinelli, all we need is another, I don't think Grealish is at all possible though unfortunately.

Need to get rid of him, otherwise we will be stuck when his purple patch ends. Don't get me wrong, I like him as a player but not good enough to be be part of the midfield for a contender. Get the £25m or we will regret it like we didn't sold AMN for that money

It's not the same situation at all though is it? And even if it was, it's a risk worth taking unless the offer that comes in is really good. So we turned down £17m for AMN and maybe he ends up going for £13m. Big deal. Or we turned down £16m for Chambers but we have a decent utility player who is still worth £12m.

What if you guys are wrong, it's not a purple patch and Willock becomes a consistent 10 goal a season midfielder? Everyone loses their ****, calls the club ****** etc (which they probably are tbf).

This is a risk vs reward decision. He's probably worth £15m now whatever he does over the next few years so keep or sell it's a gamble on Willock's upside. All sorts of average players get sold for more than £20m in the PL - apart from it being a shame to lose him, I just can't see it as good business unless it's a decent fee

Willock is a midfielder whose whole game is based on instinct.

Nearly every manager at a top club thrives on controlling games, and someone like Joe just doesn't fit into that sort of a system.

He needs the midfield built around him and he just isn't going to get that under a Pep/Tuchel/Poch etc.

He will be brilliant for a team like Newcastle/Wolves/Southampton and it's likely opposition supporters will mock us when he inevitably features in the weeks highlights, but the reality is he wouldn't get the same opportunities here, and that's fine.

While Arteta’s here he’s probably better off leaving and carving a name for himself playing in the EPL, than stuck playing just in the Europa. Wait . . we’re not in the Europa. OK, the Europa Conference. Wait . . we couldn’t make the Europa Conference. He probably won’t get any games here.

If he stays, he'll get games here. He just won't look anywhere as good as he did at Newcastle.

so..we will be stuck...and will sell at a lower price. Its not like we bought him. A lad that joined us at the age of 4. Would it kill us to adjust the system a little bit in some games?

We have to see a very serious effort to develop him, utilise him and give him a proper run.

I like him. But without Europa, he doesn't have much chance to start here. He should leave for his own sake. Newcastle fans seem to totally love him. I would be happy for him if he shines elsewhere. I just hope we add either a buy-back or a sell-on clause to the deal.

Willock joined the club age 4, AMN age 6, Saka age 7, Nelson age 9 and ESR at age 10. Amazing really. Wish we had a great manager at a well managed club at this stage.

This could have been something special

People seems to be blind. There are some youngsters you don't sell as they have a much higher seeling than others. Saka, ESR and Martinelli you don't touch. Willock, Nelson, Nketiah,... you sell at the right price. £25m is a right price for a youngster that didn't show much at Arsenal. That he is shining at Newcastle doesn't mean he will back at Arsenal.

Would I rather see Torreira, Elneny, Xhaka,... being gone for good money? Def. but as it will not be happening, we need to be selling some assets to aim for better.

the conundrum is that we can only develop either the manager or the youngsters. 😎

Willock proved a useful impact sub getting a couple of goals coming off the bench.

If we needing a goal, having two young, talented goal scorers in Willock and Martinelli will come in very useful options on the bench.
