Saw someone make a good point, there hasn’t been any talk from Ornstein or anyone that City will return with a second bid. They always indicated Arsenal would bid again after getting rejected.
Yes also man city bid did look wierd to me its same amount we offered i think they might return but the media seem convinced after we make 3rd he is ours

Why the fck do City even need him? They have Rodri and Phillips already. Wouldn't be surprised because we challenged last season

If Rice has any sense he'd see how Phillips has been treated by the bald prck and make the right decision

Rice is clearly quite central to our transfer plans, but we’d be lying if we said this was the case for City.

Way more than I’d pay, but I’d prefer to see Arteta supported and start the season properly.

The guy steered us to a title run against the odds, it would be a shame if the club let him down here so my gut feeling is they should push the boat out a bit even if it’s uncomfortable.

Yeah, we should be ready to pay over the odds if need be. Judging by our other targets, Rice is to be an integral part of what we do.

No it's not. I said Rice wanted to come to Arsenal and I believe that is still true.

If we can't get a bid accepted and Man City can he'll go there. It's not rocket science.

It's not my fault you turn to jelly every time Man City's name gets mentioned.
So Rice is willing to go anywhere? Something I’ve said all along. Cheers for that insight mate.

Seriously, I don't understand why Arsenal wants to spend over 90 million on Rice... He's not a world-class player and with that kind of money, Arsenal could find a better player.

A few reasons:

1. He’s English - squad registration rules
2. He’s 24 with bags of PL and International experience.
3. He’s a captain.
4. Arteta seems to target character aswell as talent.
5. A specialist in a position we are looking for, with scope to improve.
6. Height, durability, availability.

When you put everything together, you can see why, there aren’t many alternatives.

Rice could’ve been “sold” on our project since January, I’m not saying he wasn’t. But that doesn’t mean nothing in football when things can change so quick, now he’s been offered the City “project”.

So West Ham rejected it?

Just as I thought they would, you guys all freaked out for nothing last night!

He ticks a lot of boxes. It’s a very safe transfer, as safe as it gets. A foreign guy will need a season just to adapt, if not more.

I dont remember what the media said when we linked in January what was the price? I guess it was something around 80M i think the club did underrated westham ability to ask more.

Still Westham seriously need to soft their demands a bit

They expected city to come in really big and push Arsenal into a bidding war well over the 100m mark. Now that they haven't got that they're "unimpressed" at the "unacceptable" offer. You would hope that if even City aren't giving them what they want that they realise maybe what they want is too much.

I swear they’ve always wanted 100m plus. Think Moyes said in a press conference he’d be the British transfer record, so don’t really buy this idea that they told us 80m would do it.

I reckon we should make West Ham a take it or leave it bid that totals 100m (overpriced but he’s very important to what we’re trying to do), if they say no move on.
